Original emerald green cloth gilt, pictorial green endpapers, preserved in pictorial dustwrapper with glorious wrap-around design by Jones; pp. [ix], 10-222; with illustrations throughout in black and white; a very nice copy with shallow bruise to bottom edge of upper board; the unclipped dustwrapper (12’6) in uncommonly fresh condition with 3 short closed and almost imperceptible tears, neatly and sympathetically repaired to the verso with old paper; internally very fresh with a neat, and contemporary, gift inscription, from Lady *** Curzon(?) to half title.
First edition illustrated by Jones. With a loosely inserted original pen-ink and sepia watercolour painting on paper, by Harold Jones of a floral stem, image size circa 8.5 x 8cm. Not signed but acquired in a large archive of original Harold Jones watercolour illustrations, artwork and oils, bought from the family estate via Neil Jennings Fine Art.
