8vo. Original dark green cloth beautifully and pictorially blocked in gilt to spine and upper cover, all edges gilt; illustrated throughout after engravings by H.J. Ford; a fine copy in sparkling external condition just tiny bruising to spine ends; internally immaculate save unavoidable offset-toning to endpapers and stock, without ownership marks or inscriptions, with the  original frontispiece tissue-guard; very uncommon in this condition.

First edition, ninth impression; first published in exactly the same format and binding in 1892.

The Green Fairy Book followed the Blue (1889) and Red (1890) and was the third, and intended to be the final, book in the series, as stated in the preface here.  

The Langs, Andrew and his dedicated wife Leonora, here assembled a collection of fairy tales drawn from the Spanish and Chinese traditions including “The Blue Bird”; “The Enchanted Watch”; “Prince Narcissus and the Princess Potentilla”; “Spindle, Shuttle and Needle” and “The Golden Mermaid”.
