Royal 8vo; publisher’s tan cloth elaborately panelled and decorated to an Art Nouveau design in gilt to both covers and spine, with an onlaid pictorial plate, top edges gilt, others untrimmed, antique gold endpapers; pp. xv + 211; title vignette in black and white and a total of 30 full colour plates on coated paper; a bright and attractive copy with mild rubbing to corners and a short light scratch to lower board, internally generally very clean with a little very pale spotting to prelims and a neat, early gift inscription, dated 1919, to half-title.

Katharine Cameron (1874-1965) was a prominent Scottish artist associated with the the influential “Glasgow Girls”, from the Glasgow School of Art. She was known for the ethereal beauty of her illustrations which tended to feature fairy tale motifs, landscape and flowers. Her work blended Symbolism with Art Nouveau.
