[26], printed on rectos only on fine coated stock; with pictorial title-page in colours and a total of 12 additional charming and heart-warming full-page coloured plates, interspersed with short related verses set within pictorial coloured borders; a wonderful copy, excellently preserved in the original pretty box, the book with the patina of unavoidable gentle toning to covers, otherwise fine, internally exceptionally good throughout, without ownership marks or inscriptions; the box has some overall wear, soiling, browning, and marking, and some restoration to the back fold, reinserting a section of the original which worked loose; remarkably scarce in the box.
First edition. A delightful compilation of plates after watercolours by this artist who exhibited regularly as a fine artist at the Royal Academy in London between 1909 to 1924.
The young Edwardian girl, Susan, is portrayed engaging in various daily activities, sewing, skipping, lying ill in bed; sleeping, dressed smartly; sniffing; sighing, etc. Each striking plate is accompanied, overleaf, by a witty little verse.
