12mo., 84 x 114mm; publisher’s blue boards with pictorial label lithographed in colours to upper cover, housing a 24-leaf accordion-folded booklet of colour lithographs, extending to circa 171cm, depicting young girls playing imaginatively with their dolls (Aimez-Maman; Baisez Petite Mère; Caressez Minet; Dansons Maintenant), with X and Y combined and not including the letter W which was introduced to the French alphabet in the nineteenth century; sometime skilfully and sympathetically rebacked with blue paper, with external dusting and rubbing, with some abrasion to lower cover; internally clean and fresh; rare.
First edition. An engaging alphabet themed around the nursery activity of young girls playing with their dolls. Unlocated, however a different 24-leaf panorama “Abri-Zigzag”, published by the same imprint Ducrocq circa 1875, found on WorldCat. No copy on COPAC or on the commercial market at the time of cataloguing.
