Original pale green cloth elaborately and pictorially blocked in gilt to spine and upper cover, top edges gilt, others uncut, decorated endpapers; with pictorial title-page, frontispiece and 22 additional coloured plates throughout by C.E. Brock; externally dust-soiled and lightly rubbed with a couple of small nicks to head of spine at lower joint, small bruising to forecorners and the arc of a pale cup mark (45mm) to lower cover; internally generally quite clean with occasional light foxing and some toning, unobtrusive archival Japanese tissue-tape to strengthen inner hinges , and 2 clean scissor (?) cuts (75mm) to front free endpaper, now expertly repaired and not easily noticeable.
