First edition of this prettily illustrated, and limited, version of some of the most popular fairy tales including Sleeping Beauty; Cinderella; Little Thumb; Blue Beard and the Master Cat. This is number 1222 of only 1250 copies. Here in daisy-patterned boards in white, orange, cream and pale brown, although variant patterned boards were used within the limitation.
It is a reprint of the 1719 edition, newly edited by James Saxon Childers. The nine illustrations are recut versions of the woodcuts made for the 1697 edition of “Contes de ma Mère l’Oye”, here by W.M.R. Quick. The book is printed by The Curwen Press.
