(140 x 220); publisher’s mid-blue cloth blocked pictorially in gilt to both spine and upper cover, top edges gilt, pictorial endpapers; pp. viii], ix-x + [ii] + 135; with full colour frontispiece retaining original captioned guards and 7 additional beautiful mounted coloured plates within colour-printed borders, protected by original tissues along with a large number of fine illustrations in line; a very bright and crisp copy with 3 tiny closed nicks at spine ends and some dusting and spotting to edges of book block; internally nice throughout with all plates fine and only mild offsetting to free endpapers and a contemporary ink inscription, dated Christmas 1918, to front pastedown.

First edition, with gilded covers, later issued blocked in blind.  An assemblage of lullabies and children’s verses by writers such as William Blake, Lord Alfred Tennyson, Lewis Carroll and Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
