Small square 8vo.; publisher’s pictorial card covers printed in chromolithography with wrap-around design, silk cord ties; pp. [28]; with letterpress title-page and calendar pages throughout in purple and green (possibly suggesting support of the women’s suffrage movement), in calligraphic font; with 13 colour-printed plates, including a centre-spread of cricket match; a very pleasing copy with some overall external dust-soiling, original tie lacking one tassel, spotting to both inner covers, title-page, and centrefold, and a small semi-circular brown mark to the lower corner of four pages (circa 10mm), but otherwise clean and crisp; a scarce Ainslie title in view of the ephemeral nature of a yearly calendar.
First edition. Ainslie’s engaging plates of her wooden-peg dolls and their activities take us through the various seasons of the year and illustrate ice-skating, spring cleaning, angling, camping, golf and lacrosse among other pastimes.
