4to.; publisher’s turquoise pictorial cloth lavishly blocked in colours and gilt, with double-line panel in gilt to upper board, spine decorated in gilt, top edges gilt, others olivine, decorative pink and green floral endpaeprs; pp. [vi], [7]-158 + [ii]; with title and text pages throughout bordered in turquoise, a large number of wonderful black and white text illustrations, and a total of 8 beautiful chromolithographed plates mounted-at-large within turquoise panels; a very good, sound and attractive copy with light overall dust-soiling, a knock to bottom forecorner of upper cover, a short split to lower joint at head and heel (18mm) and another to top edge of upper joint (10mm), all unobtrusive and neatly repaired; with even toning through to the stock but otherwise fine, all plates immaculate, without ownership marks or inscriptions.

First edition with a list of three previously published titles to a prelim page.
