WODEHOUSE, P.G. (author). Jeeves in the Offing. London Herbert Jenkins. 1960

£140.00

8vo.; original red linson boards gilt; in pictorial dustwrapper; pp. [vi], 7-205; a very good copy with slight turning to fore-edge corners, in an attractive, unclipped dustwrapper (13/6) with small surface nicking to edges, including spine ends, slight bubbling to original laminate at upper joint, as is frequently the case, and light soiling, without ownership inscription.

First U.K. edition, first printing, with the incorrect half-title “A Few Quick Ones” to page 5 as called for: published a few months earlier in the U.S. by Simon & Schuster with the title “How Right You Are, Jeeves”. This is the eighth Jeeves novel. Bertie Wooster goes to stay with Aunt Dahlia at Brinkley Court and revels in the usual riotous range of characters including Roberta Wickham (”a one-girl beauty chorus”) and “that tick of ticks”, the former headmaster of Malvern Preparatory School, the Rev. Aubrey Upjohn.
