£300.00

8vo. Publisher’s damson cloth elaborately panelled and lettered in gilt to both spine and upper board, in pictorial dustwrapper; pp. [iv], [7]-252 + [ii], Reader’s Library advertisements; a very good copy indeed with dulling to spine gilt, internally sound with toning, as usual, to the inferior stock, and a previous owner’s neat ink stamp “F.J. Needle” to front and final blanks, in dustwrapper illustrated after a still from the Universal Studios’ film, the dustwrapper in remarkably good and clean condition with some very light dusting, small nicking to spine ends, a vertical crease to upper joint and minor rubbing to extremities; scarce and seldom seen as nice as this.

First edition thus, the first Photoplay Edition, published in the Readers Library series, published in conjunction with the movie of the same year which starred Boris Karloff, Colin Clive, Frederick Kerr and Mae Clarke, with screenplay by Francis Edward Faragoh and Garrett Fort.
