WODEHOUSE, P.G. (author). Mike At Wrykyn. London Herbert Jenkins. 1953

£225.00

8vo. Original red linson boards lettered in black to spine, in pictorial dustwrapper; pp. [vi], 7-188 + [iv]; a fine and uninscribed copy protected by a very bright and attractive, partially clipped dustwrapper (stamped 7/6d) with some dust-soiling to lower panel, small closed nicks to spine ends, another to upper joint fold, and 3 short closed edge tears (longest 15mm), including one to top edge of upper panel with a short associated crease, each expertly repaired to the reverse with archival tissue; scarce.

First edition thus. Originally published as the first part of “Mike” by A. & C. Black in 1909, which was an early novel that was largely forgotten until it was revised and reissued here as “Mike at Wrykyn”. Reportedly one of the greatest school cricket stories in juvenile literature.
